November 25, 2009 the Union of Composites Manufacturers conducted the 3rd International conference «Composite materials: production, application, market tendencies», traditionally gathered the main players of composite industry of Russian and CIS together.

Prepregs, premixes, SMC/BMC – materials were chosen in capacity of the key subject in 2009. SMC/BMC/CIC – are the modern semi-finished products for parts production with the help of hot press found its application in such industry spheres as automobile, aviation, wagon, tractor, electrical engineering. 
The conference program included the sections illustrating the technologies of prepreg and pre-mixes production, types, properties and application spheres of semi-finished products.

The following reports were presented during the event:
- The company Schmidt&Heinzmann presented a number of its equipment for production of semi-finished products: cutting system, dosing and impregnation system of fibers fill-ers;
- The representative of the company Menzolit explained in details the processing of SMC/BMC – materials into the products and further application of the latest;
- Tatyana Shatskaya from NPO “Stekloplastik” and Nikolay Chernenko from “NII Grafit” told about prepregs for production of high strength and heat resistant composite materials.

A separate section of the conference was allocated to the new items on the market of the fillers, binders and equipment for composites where the presentation was made by:
- The representative of the company OCV Reinforcement Maxim Kudryavtsev that pre-sented a new dry prepreg on the base of glass filler and polypropylene;
- Senior engineer of Ashland Company, George Kappenstein that spoke in details about epoxy vinyl ester resin DERAKANE® , the application of which as a binder allows manu-facturing the products from composite materials resistant to very aggressive mediums;
- Representative of the Russian company «Epital» Valentin Lapitskij, that prepared the report about epoxy binder specially developed for prepreg producing used for production of high strength and heat resistant composites;
- The director of the company Nanocyl Fransis Massan that spike about advanced devel-opments in the sphere of nano-composites with addition of carbon nanotubes.
A particular interest was directed to the report about clusters in composite industry and about problems of their creation in Russia made by the president of the company West Philipp Zheffrua.
